The gal(鞨) of Malgal(靺鞨) means the town, and the word is connected with Koryo(高麗) = Korea.

동(洞)네에서 성읍(城邑), 나라로까지 그 뜻이 확대되며, 현재 한국, 몽골, 부리야트에서 아직도 그 단어를 쓰고 있습니다.
